Self control

Ooooh...I just saw that the German cast recording of The Beautiful Game is coming out! I want! Not to mention the 'imminent' release of Anthony Warlow's new CD, "Face the Music". Not to mention the ever-growing list of CDs that I'm keeping that I would love to own and don't. *sigh*

See, the problem right now is that I actually have money, so I could, in theory, buy some of these things. However, the money that I have is supposed to be used for my various trips later this year. So as much as I would like to go buy a ticket for Skate Canada, a CanStage season subscription, an air conditioner, and all the afore-mentioned CDs, I must be good and keep my VISA card tucked firmly in my wallet.

However, if you need an example to know just how bad my self-control is, let's look at today. Today was meant to be used for studying for my insurance exam, which is in six days. So this morning I got up and decided to read my book while playing Civilization on the computer, and did actually accomplish a little bit this way, believe it or not. However, I also went to the library yesterday and checked out the latest Anne Rice Vampire Chronicle, Blackwood Manor, which is far more interesting reading than the automobile insurance of Ontario.

So I read that for a while, and then I was starting to get a little hungry, but I didn't have any food, so I had to go to the grocery store. I had a shower, and then a bath, and then finally got ready and went out. But first I stopped at Blockbuster, where I bought a previously-viewed copy of "The Pianist", then to Shoppers for a few things, and to the dollar store for some odds and ends. I did eventually make it to the grocery store, and came back to the apartment to put everything away.

One of the things I bought at the dollar store was some super glue, to fix a few things that I'd broken, so I decided to do that. While fishing in my purse for the broken arm for my sunglasses, I was reminded what a mess my purse is, and cleaned it completely out. I was just trying to glue the glasses back together when my mom called, and we talked for nearly an hour. Then I finally made myself something to eat, and thought I would spend one more chapter with Lestat before I went back to the vehicle coverages.

But then, the phone rang again, this time it was my friend Jen from B.C., who I only talk to every couple of months, so we chatted for over an hour. Then my friend and her little girl from down the hall stopped by to see if I could come over and help them install an air conditioner. I got back and made a quick supper (since I'd just had lunch about 2 hours before), and realized I hadn't updated my musical website yet. So I have just finished doing that, and it's now 8:30, and it's going to be dark soon, and my head hurts from the heat, and I don't think I can start studying now.

Plus, my computer just deleted this whole entry and I had to re-type it, so it's now 8:50. :-(

Anyone want to bet whether or not I'm going to pass this exam??
