Something fun - this is a map of cities I've visited around the world, and you can make your own!

Sorry for not updating - truth is, there's not much to tell! I'm still looking for work, and therefore still spending most of my days around the apartment, working piecemeal on several different projects at once. One of these projects involves transferring all my VHS tapes to DVD, which, although it is very time-consuming, is also fun and will be really helpful when it is finished (not to mention taking up much less space)! Of course I also have to do packing and organizing and all that other stuff which is not quite as much fun, but the apartment is looking better, so I guess it's worth it. Anybody in Toronto want to buy our Christmas tree?

The weather has been absolutely gorgeous over the past few weeks. Todd and I spent a day at the Toronto zoo, since he'd never been. Unfortunately the polar bear habitat was being renovated, so there were no polar bears, but we had a fun day anyway. I always love watching the big cats.

We also went to see Stars on Ice the other night, which was a good show! Can't really go wrong with having Kurt and Jeffrey in the same show, plus they had Virtue & Moir as guest skaters.

I've seen a few more people from work, and Todd and I also met up with a friend of his from home who was in town with her husband for his job. They have a 10-month old little girl who was really adorable, and made me miss my own nephews even more.

Todd writes his first final today, and then has two more next week. He only needs to get about 20 or 25% on each of them to pass his courses, so I'm not very worried about it, but naturally he's a bit stressed. We're both looking forward to them being over, mostly because it will be the first time in all the time I've known him that he won't be taking classes! We've bought tickets to the opera (mostly to see the new opera house here) and for Dirty Dancing the week after he's finished.

We're still tossing around the idea of a trip to New York, but no plans have been made yet. I do need to go home and visit my family sometime soon - have been hoping I could combine that with a trip to Vancouver for a job interview, but that's not worked out so far.

Alright, time to get back to my projects! Hopefully I'll have some more exciting things to report in May! Here's a picture of Todd on the University of Toronto campus, and one of Tiger in a sombrero. Just because. :-)

April 8, 2008 - 11:44 a.m. EST

I am at home! Even if at times it didn't seem that I would make it...talk about saving all the flight troubles to the end of my trip! First off, my flight out of Goteborg was cancelled on Easter. Not delayed, just flat-out cancelled. The next one they could put me on was three days later, which, obviously, wasn't going to work. So I just cancelled that flight altogether and after much scrambling (mostly by Todd online whilst I was talking to him on my mobile while waiting in line for my refund), I was able to get on a flight the next day out of Stockholm. So I had to go back to Goteborg, stay another night there, get up early and take the train back to Stockholm. What a pain!! And Ryanair, the airline that cancelled the flight, did not handle the whole thing very well, which is the final reason in a fairly long list of reasons why I will not fly with them again unless I absolutely have to.

So anyway, after all that I finally got back to London, and didn't even have time to go to Karen and Gill's before going to the theatre to see Jersey Boys (so I had to show up at the theatre with all my luggage!). Anyway, the show was good, but I was pretty exhausted so didn't enjoy it as much as I otherwise might have. Tuesday morning I left their apartment at 9 am for my 1 pm flight. Plenty of time, right? Well, it would have been, if the Jubilee line had been running! I can't explain my frustration when I got to the tube station, lugging over 100 pounds of luggage, to find they'd shut down the Jubilee line. After several unsuccessful attempts to get a taxi (including waking poor Todd up at 5 am his time), I finally ended up on a bus going to Hammersmith. By the time I got on a train on the Piccadilly line, it was after 11. And remember, my flight was at 1. We arrived at the Heathrow tube station at 11:50. I got a cart for my luggage and SPRINTED to the check-in desk. I got there at 11:58. I asked the person there if I could still make my flight - she checked her computer and said we had 1 minute to print my luggage tags, and I then had to get to my gate, which was 20 minutes away, AFTER I got through security and paid my excess baggage fee. Suffice to say I pretty much just collapsed once I finally got on the plane... but at least I made it!!

And of course it was all worth it to see Todd waiting at Pearson when I got there. We came home, and I've hardly left the apartment again since. :-) I've visited with a couple of friends and done some errands, but mostly I have been hanging around at home, working on packing and other projects. Tiger was happy to see me too, I think, even if I did take him to the vet a few days later. He's doing well healthwise though (he's down under 12 pounds! And he used to be over 17! He's so skinny!) and the vet said he looked very good for his age.

Today is Todd's last day of university classes, so after this he just has to get through finals and he's got his degree - I'm so proud of him! And he's not even complaining about supporting his unemployed girlfriend. :-) In fact, he's even telling me to take my time in getting a job - pretty darn nice to have that option!!

As promised, I've uploaded a few pictures from my trip - just one from each city for now. Oh, and I'll include a picture of me with my new haircut - I rather like it!
