How I'm going to get through two more days of work, I don't know. I want to leave now!!!!
But, I actually have a lot of work to do between now and then, because I have been promoted, so when I get back I will be starting in my new position. Which means I have to have everything here in order, and if you could see my desk right now, you would feel very sorry for me indeed.
Something tried to break into my house last night. I think it was a racoon or a cat or something and not a person, but whatever it was, it woke me up at 4 a.m., and I had to go downstairs and investigate (the screen on the window was knocked on to the floor and everything on the bookshelf by the window had been knocked off) and I couldn't get back to sleep afterwards.
It rained today for 5 minutes. This is the first rain we've seen in several weeks - it was good. :-)

I'm melting!! Melllllllllltiiiiiiiiiiiiiing!!
Yeah. With the humidity today, it's supposed to feel like 44 C. That's insanity. That's like over 110 Fahrenheit. I feel so sorry for my poor cat. He must be just dying! And I had to spend way longer than necessary outside yesterday, because I got home from work only to discover that I had left my key for the house at work, so I had to go back downtown to get the key and go back home. So I got home at 8:00. Rather than 5:30. Yes, I'm brilliant, I know.
I also have a great big sunburn on my back. I was working in the garden on the weekend, wearing my bathing suit, which has no back, and apparently the sun decided to attack it. I was wearing suntan lotion, but just not enough, I guess! Anyway, it was pretty painful for a few days, but it's getting better.
I have a watermelon in my garden!! This is very exciting. I also had a tomato sandwich last night with a tomato that I grew. And I have a pumpkin growing too. Yay!
The car rental company finally told them how much I owe them for banging up the car. I suppose it could be worse, but it still really sucks. I don't want to give them my money! :-)

That picture just makes me laugh. :-)
Anyway, it is the first day of August!! I am caught between being really excited, and being really depressed. Why depressed? Well, because another month has passed with me doing a job that doesn't interest me in the least, and with no prospect of anything better coming up.
However, the excitement at this point does pretty much outweigh any other considerations! I leave two weeks from tonight!! :-)
This past week has been pretty quiet. I loved The Full Monty - very funny and fun. On Sunday, Karen and Gill went again, so I met up with them and Trevor at the stage door, and then we went to see the movie version of Hedwig and the Angry Inch, which I actually enjoyed more than I thought I would. Not that I didn't think I'd enjoy it, just that I didn't expect to like it so much. I may have to invest in the soundtrack one of these days.
Friday is my cat's birthday! He will be 9 years old. I was going to make a cake and stuff, but it turns out my roommate's going away (long weekend and all), so it would be a little silly to make a cake for myself. :-) I still have to get him a present. He's pretty easy to please though. Give him a can of tuna, and he'll love you forever! :-)
