Moving Too Fast
August 26, 2002
I have decided that I really don't like change that much. Or at least, not when it's not my decision. This move at work is bothering me a lot more than I thought it would. I don't want to go to a new office and have to learn new computer systems and meet new people and do new work. This might have something to do with me hating my job too, do you think?
I got some scanned pictures from my sister's wedding! Here are a few for your viewing pleasure:

Me and my brothers and sisters (and brother-in-law)
This weekend was kind of nice - I baked some pies (one apple and one raspberry, yum), and cleaned my apartment, and did laundry and read my book. I am greatly looking forward to the long weekend, though I won't be going to Montreal as I had hoped. Possibly I will the weekend after, though things aren't looking so good for that either. :-(

Well, the vacation is over. Which means I am all out of vacation time for this year. Me = depressed.
However, the wedding was really, really nice. My sister's dress was gorgeous, the bridesmaid's dresses were gorgeous, almost everyone behaved themselves, and a good time was had by all. My readings at the ceremony went well, and other than the grasshoppers, it was lovely. I ate entirely too much food (mostly after the wedding, when all the leftover desserts came to our house), but I don't really care. :-)
Once Shanda and Mike had left for their honeymoon in Cuba, we visited with my aunt and cousins from B.C. My mom and I took my cousin Tricia and my aunt to Wanuskewin Park in Saskatchewan, which is a First Nations interpretive centre. I'd been there before, but several years ago, so it was interesting to see it again. It rained pretty much the entire time I was home, so we weren't surprised when a thunderstorm interrupted our hike down one of the discovery trails. Luckily, there were some tipis not too far away, so we ran to them and hid inside for the duration of the storm. I can honestly say that's something I've never done before. :-)
We also spent a lot of time in Camrose at the Alberta Summer Games, where my little brother was playing baseball. Unfortunately it was really, really cold, so we didn't enjoy it as much as we might have otherwise, but it was still fun. Brett played well, especially pitching. This weekend he has a hockey tryout camp. From baseball to hockey in one week - only in Canada. :-)
So now I am back home, with my kitty, who was very, very happy to see me when I came through the door on Sunday. The news of the moment is that we will be moving to our new office on Wednesday next week, which means I won't have much Internet access anymore. So, to counteract that, I am buying a computer! Finally!!! It should arrive next week. You cannot imagine the happiness that I am in.
Alright, I think this is long enough for now. Go visit this site: Jesper Solo CD.

Alright! I got my sister's wedding gift. And with 2 whole days to spare. ;-) It is a "textured print" of this Monet painting:
I hope she likes it!
I leave in a few hours to fly home. I will be flying on "Tango", Air Canada's discount airline. It should be interesting to see what kind of differences there are. It cost me a whole $30 less than the regular Air Canada flight, so I'm not expecting much.
Apparently there is a grasshopper infestation at home. I'll keep you updated.
German is a crazy, crazy language. I am trying to teach myself, and it's really not going well. There are entirely too many genders, and declensions, and whatever else you want to call them. I know that eventually I will need to break down and pay for lessons, but until I can afford to do so, I will just complain. :-)
That's all I have to say for now! I'll try to write once while I'm in Alberta.

Tomorrow is my cat's 10th birthday! That is really hard to believe. Though many people who see him now don't believe it, he was once a little kitten, and I remember so clearly the first time I saw him. He was so adorable. And he still is! I am getting him a very special treat of tuna and salmon to celebrate.
I'm half surprised he's not deaf now though, after the fire alarm we had on Wednesday. I wasn't sure what to do, so I thought I better go out of the building, so I picked Tiger up and headed for the stairs, but on the way from my apartment to the stairs, we had to pass right by two of the speakers where the alarm was coming from, and it was really loud to *me* - I can't even imagine what it did to his sensitive ears. :-(
Oh, there was no fire, btw. :-)
I was so excited on Monday when I went to the card store to buy a birthday card, and they have their Christmas ornaments out! Yes, some may argue that July is a little early for it, but you can't imagine the thrill it gave me. :-) And they had the new Phantom ornament too! It is the Masquerade scene. I will have to buy one. I think I'll pass on the Aaron Carter one though.
Is it a bad thing that my sister's getting married a week from tomorrow, and I haven't bought a gift yet? Yeah, that's what I thought.
