What? It's 8:30 and I'm sitting at home alone? What's going on??
Seriously, I feel like I've spent NO time just hanging out at my apartment lately. Not that I mind, really, but I'm sure my websites and email are feeling a little neglected (not to mention all the people connected with said sites and mail).
I went to the doctor after work today because I have been having difficulty walking on my left foot, and the toes are really swollen. He couldn't really say what was wrong with it, could be a stress fracture, or maybe just some pulled ligaments. Either way, I have to take medicine. :-( And try not to walk very much for the next week. Yeah. Like that's going to happen.
I have been sneezing like crazy at work. Obviously I am allergic to my job.
My mom got home today. Her recovery is getting a little more difficult now, but hopefully it will move past the painful stage very soon.
The long weekend is coming, yay! We've bought tickets to see Gypsy and Belle Moral at the Shaw Festival. And I've been informed that there is a fantastic Christmas store in Niagara-on-the-Lake. This is very good news. For me. Maybe not so much for Todd.
Tomorrow Peggy and I are going to go to Shakespeare in the Park, which is Much Ado about Nothing this year. I've been meaning to go all summer, and just keep putting it off, but this is the last week, and I'm busy all weekend, so it's tomorrow or never!
That's about all I have to say for now! A year ago today I was in Paris. *sniff* I need to go to Europe again. Soon. But here's the dilemma - Robin Hood, or Phantom?? Which should I go for? Decisions, decisions. More on that later. :-)
Woo to Karen on the voice posts from the Clay Aiken concert! Cool stuff! :-)
So, only two weeks after we met for the first time, Todd told me last night that he loves me. And it was wonderful. No guy has ever said that to me before, and I believe he means it. Especially after tonight, which was the first real test of our commitment (and trust me, it was a pretty big one!), and he was as amazing as I could have possibly hoped (and more).
We have seen a lot of each other in the past week, including spending 49 straight hours together last weekend, and we're not sick of each other yet. This weekend we are hanging out with a few of his friends, plus celebrating his birthday. I have bought him a present, even though he ordered me not to. But it is a stupid present, so I don't think it counts. I wanted to bake him something, ANYTHING, but as he is diabetic, he doesn't want me to. :-( I might make some sausage-stuffed mushrooms instead.
And next weekend, for the long weekend, we are planning on going to Niagara-on-the-Lake and Niagara Falls, to see a show or two at the Shaw Festival, and just explore the area. Should be lots of fun!!!
Jenn and I went to see a sneak preview of the movie Undiscovered on Monday night. If you are thinking about seeing it, don't waste your time. Pretty cheesy and not very interesting. Plus entirely too much of Ashlee Simpson singing.
My mom's surgery was today, and I spoke to her about an hour ago, and she is doing very well. Thank you to everyone who sent out the good thoughts and prayers! She was still on painkillers, so it's hard to say how much she's going to be feeling it afterwards, but at least the operation went smoothly. Hopefully she won't have to stay in the hospital longer than a week.
Only 4 more months until Christmas!!
Thanks to everyone who sent their congratulations after my last entry - it's great to have wonderful friends who are happy when you're happy!
And I am still happy. :-) Although, I've only actually seen Todd once more since my last entry, since he managed to get the flu, and has had to stay home and recuperate. But we're hoping he's going to feel up to going out tonight, since the Toronto Symphony Orchestra is giving a free concert downtown by the waterfront, and it should be an absolutely beautiful evening.
The skating on Sunday was pretty good, though I have to admit to being a little disappointed in Jeffrey's new program. It was nice, but nothing spectacular, and very much in the vein of his previous programs. I guess I was just expecting something a little different for the Olympic year (although apparently his short program is "Sing! Sing! Sing!", which should be interesting).
For those of you who haven't read the "about me" part of the site and are wondering what's up with the new design, my mom is going for surgery next week, and is a little scared about it, so I wanted to put up something to show my support and love. So if you can all spare a kind thought for her everytime you see the design, that would be awesome.
Okay, I better run to work for now - I have a lot to do this morning, since this afternoon is our company picnic and I will be out of the office. Have a good weekend everyone!
Wow, it's amazing how much things can change in such a short amount of time! Shortly after I wrote my last entry on Tuesday night, I got an email from a guy that sounded interesting, and we started writing each other...on Thursday we met for the first time, on Friday he kissed me down by the lake after our date, and yesterday we officially decided that he's my boyfriend. :-) I am so happy - he is really wonderful - sweet and smart and funny and cute and just altogether amazing. I keep asking him what's wrong with him, because he can't be that perfect, but so far he hasn't given me a satisfactory answer.
A few more details? Oh, sure, if I have to. ;-) His name is Todd, he's originally from Edmonton (a prairie dweller like myself!), he works in IT but is going back to school in the fall, is religious, plays the piano and sings, has seen several musicals, brought up the name Andrew Lloyd Webber before I did, and has Kurt Browning's autograph. I did mention he was perfect, right?
I could gush on and on, but I'll try to save some of it for later so I don't bore you all right away. I'll also try to get a picture of us to put up before too long (or at least one of him!).
Other than that, though, I have very little to say, since he has taken up pretty much all my time in the last five days! Oh, I did get the results of my last two insurance exams though, and I passed!! Hooray! So I am now officially a "Chartered Insurance Professional" - pretty impressive, don't you think? But the real reason I took all those courses was to get the $1000 bonus that goes with it, which will come in reaaaaally handy right about now.
Today I am going up to Thornhill to see Jeffrey Buttle's new long program for the first time! I was going to spend the whole day there, but the schedule is really kind of weird, so the senior ladies is happening in about half an hour, and then it's mostly juniors until the men this afternoon, so I think I'll just go for the men. It's only $5 for the whole day, so even if I only get to see Jeff, it's more than worth it. :-) I'm going to try to talk to him after, though last year I had the opportunity and chickened out.
And speaking of Thornhill, I should probably start getting ready to go! Have a good week everyone!
Okay, so I worked for a while on a new design, and then decided I didn't like it, so I've given up for now. There will be one though, and hopefully before too long.
So what's been going on? Not a whole lot. This past weekend was the beer festival, which I attended with a big group of people (from work, and their assorted friends). Although I'm not a beer drinker, I still had a good time, primarly because there was at least one vodka tent. :-) There had been talk of going out afterwards, but that didn't materialize, so I came home at a decent hour after all.
I've seen a couple of good movies this week, both of them documentaries. First I saw "March of the Penguins", which is absolutely fascinating stuff, a year in the life of the emperor penguins in Antartica. And then I saw "My Date with Drew" (we got free tickets), which sounded kind of odd, but was actually really cute and funny. I can understand the criticisms that I've read of it, but I still really enjoyed it.
Other than that, I have been dating some more - when it rains, it pours, right? Not having a lot of experience in this department, I had been avoiding it for some time, but now that I am doing it, I am actually enjoying it! Definitely no long term relationship yet, but I've met some interesting people, and had some fun, so it's been good. Spicing up the summer a bit, at least. :-)
Alright, maybe I'll return to the redesign and see if I can't get something together by the end of the week...
