**A HUGE congratulations to Alison's cousin, Tanith, who, with her partner Ben, just won the U.S. Figure Skating Nationals in Junior Dance!!! They are so talented, and really deserve this!**
I absolutely cannot believe it's February 12 already. The month's half-over, and it feels like it's hardly started. The end of the year is going to be here before I know it, and reading week is next week already! I just finally got myself in gear and booked our car and hotel and tickets and stuff.
Anyway, last weekend Alison was up, which was very much fun! We watched lots of videos - Pimpernel stuff, Doug in Bravo Broadway, Terrence Mann in some old TV things, the '98 Tonys, Rosie stuff, and more. We also had a blast watching Alan Cumming on Saturday Night Live...he's too much fun! And on Saturday we went to Sunset Boulevard. It was about time I got to see that show. :-) I was disappointed with Petula Clark, but Lewis Cleale, who played Joe, was wonderful, and there was a cute dancing boy that kept me occupied for the chorus numbers. :-)
Theatre-wise, I've also seen three other plays in the last week. I saw "Act of Ruth" at the Great Canadian Theatre Company, which was a pretty good play about the relationship between mothers and daughters, and the effects of Alzheimer's Disease. On Wednesday I saw "2 Pianos, 4 Hands", which I've wanted to see for quite some time, and I enjoyed it as much as I knew I would. I wish I could have seen Ted Dykstra and Richard Greenblatt do it, but the women we saw were quite good as well. And last night I went to see "Clever as Paint" here on campus, and actually quite disliked it, which is unusual for me. I'm going to have to figure out what made me react to it in that way.
It's Winterlude in Ottawa right now, which is a big winter festival that goes on for three weeks. Last weekend was opening weekend, and the weather is beautiful today, so there are tons of people out on the canal and everywhere. I want to see the snow sculptures on Parliament Hill when they're finished...when Alison and I went last weekend, they were just blocks of snow, and I saw on Wednesday that they had started carving them, so I'll have to go look at the finished product. It always amazes me the sculptures they can make with snow and ice!
Classes are going fairly well. As I said, only one more week till reading week, so that will be a welcome break! I have to start thinking about getting my grad photos done, and all that other stuff. I got my exam schedule yesterday, and it's *horrible*. I have two exams - one on Easter Monday, and the other on the very last day of exams. This should not happen in my last year.
Anyway, I came to school to actually do some work, rather than fool around on my website, which I've been doing much too much of lately. I hope you're all enjoying February!
