Picture of the day:

So it's the new millenium. Funny, it doesn't feel a whole lot different from the old one. :-) Not that I thought it would, of course. It has to be one of the worst-hyped things I've ever seen. I was invited out to a party, but decided to just spend the night at home with my mother and brother. We watched the last ten minutes on the CBC Newsworld broadcast, and that was about it. :-)
So now it's time for my "year in review"...everyone else does them, so I figure I have the right to do one for my life too. :-) I'll try to make it brief...just the highlights version of 1999.
January - lots of Little Shop rehearsal stuff. At the end of the month, I applied for a summer internship with Livent in New York City. I believe my exact words were "I decided to be stupid and apply for an internship with Livent in New York City. I don't know what on earth I'd do if I actually got it, but the job was just too perfect to resist. So for now I'm just operating on the assumption that I'm not going to get it, and I guess we'll see what happens from there. :-)"
February - more Little Shop and school stuff, as well as another fun-filled trip to New York City. Saw Parade, Cabaret, Pimpernel and Titanic, as well as the Statue of Liberty, finally! Also went for my interview at Livent...one of the most difficult things I've ever done!
March - the run of Little Shop! Alison came up to visit and see the show, and pretty much my entire life centred around the show this month. Oh, and those pesky term papers. :-) And at the end of the month, I found out my interview couldn't have been that bad, 'cause Livent wanted me to come down! Now I just had to find the money to do it...
April - I accepted the job, and spent all of this month trying to pull it together...finding a place to live, money to live on, transportation, etc. I also wrote finals somewhere in there. 3rd year of university was over! Spent a day with Alison for fun.
May - oh dear, way too many things to mention!! :-) Lived in New York City. Worked on the Suessical workshop (CAN'T WAIT for that show to open!), started work with the PR office at Livent. Saw Ragtime, Phantom, Civil War, Pimpernel (a few times :-), Forbidden Broadway and Ring Round the Moon. Got to meet Melanie, finally! Also spent some more time with Alison, which is always good. The final show of Pimpernel, and so much more.
June - more of the same!! THE TONY'S...the rehearsal, the party, everything! Went to the Rosie O'Donnell show and CBS This Morning and the Today Show with Fosse. Saw Fosse! :-) Also saw Cabaret, Gemini, Things You Shouldn't Say Past Midnight, and Ragtime and the Civil War again. Dan came to visit. I ran into Ethan Freeman in a bar! :-) Some friends threw me the first suprise party of my life! Slept on 44th street. And finally, had to go home. :-(
July - working back in Alberta. My little brother's team won baseball provincials, which was very exciting! Visiting with family from England, and family from here too.
August - More of the same, as well as having a horrible time planning my last year of university. Money problems, not having a place to live, not getting the schedule I wanted. Just not good all around. But most things worked out in the end!
September - back to Ottawa. Dropped my first class ever, but I think it turned out to be smart move. Went to visit Alison for a weekend.
October - Germany!! My first trip to Europe ever, and I got to see Ethan again! Saw J&H and Phantom in Germany, and just did some sightseeing. Took WAY too many pictures! Also, Alison came up to Ottawa, and we saw the tour of J&H, with Chuck! And at the end of the month, I spent Halloween night at the Pantages for the last show of Phantom in Toronto.
November - just a lot of school stuff. TV class took up most of my time. Saw The Play's The Thing, and some other amateur stuff.
December - got to talk to Frank Wildhorn on the phone! Finished up my first term of my last year, and spent the last three weeks at home, working at the IGA.
And that brings us up to the present. Also after midnight last night, I opened a letter I had written to myself back in 1990...from myself at age 11, addressed to myself at age 21. It was actually really interesting, and funny, and I will write another one within the next few days, to myself at age 31! We'll see how much I've changed again.
I don't have a clue what the year 2000 holds for me. I'll finish university, which is thrilling and terrifying at the same time. I really hope I can find a job I enjoy. I know I was terribly spoiled by the Livent thing, but I've never been one to think small, so we'll see how it goes. :-) I hope everyone that's reading this has a very blessed and happy new year, and may all your dreams come true!
