I am taking a break in my cleaning efforts to write this entry. I took the day off work (we can take 1 day off every month if we work enough extra hours to cover it...who *wouldn't* for a free day off??), and I have decided to use it to clean this apartment from top to bottom. I have so far finished the bathroom, coat closet and hallway. That leaves all the bigger rooms and my big closet yet. I probably should have waited a little longer before taking a break.
I just have to say that Sunday's episode of Alias was *unbelievable*!!! There was so much that happened. It was like every major story line of the past year and a half came to an end, and then in the last three minutes, they set up a brand new premise. Amazing!!! I can't wait to see what's going to happen next! Like, how did Sloane find out the Bristows were double agents? Why didn't he do anything about it? What is his master plan? Why is Sark involved? If you don't watch this show, you should start RIGHT NOW!
I'm a little bit depressed because I found an *amazing* deal on the flight I want, but I can't afford to buy the ticket for another 22 days, by which time that fare will probably have gone way up. :-( I shouldn't have looked yet, it's just going to depress me. However, I did also find a good fare for a flight to Vienna, so I'm considering planning a little trip for myself around my birthday... ;-)
Alright, back to the cleaning! Hope everybody else is having fun at work...hehehe...

So this week has been the European figure skating championships, which has basically involved a lot of me sitting at the computer to follow results, while watching still photographs from Eurosport TV. Is that pathetic?! :-) Anyway, I'm actually rather pleasantly surprised by the dance results, though there was definitely some bad judging as well. Can't wait for worlds!!
I did some re-arranging in my bookshelves last weekend, and now I don't know if I like it. But I'm too lazy to change it back. :-) I took most of my videotapes (there are a LOT of them), and put them in the shelves in my closet, and replaced them in the bookshelf with all my theatre programmes, piano music and travel books. I guess I don't like it because the programmes are all different sizes and it makes it look messy. But as I said, I'm too lazy right now to do anything about it. ;-)
I have a bunch of seminar/class things that I have to go to for work in February. Yuck - I am not looking forward to that at all. Especially as one of them is essentially an introduction to accident benefits - the management figures I should take it, as I never have. Well sure, but I've also been working in accident benefits for two and a half years, maybe I picked up a thing or two?! I think I'm going to be bored stiff. :-(

I was really hoping that I could post in here and announce that Tanith and Ben were the new U.S. ice dance champions. But, it wasn't to be, not yet, though it couldn't have been much closer. So congrats to them for a fantastic competition and their silver medal - there is still plenty of time for them to win this one!
I saw Chicago earlier this week, and I was very pleased with it! It's a really good adaptation. I liked their mechanism for introducing the songs into the story, and I thought both Catherine Zeta-Jones and Renee Zellweger did great work. I wasn't overly thrilled with Richard Gere, but then, I'm not a huge fan of his to begin with. Still, besides being a great adaptation, it's also just a really great movie, and I think that people who have never heard a thing about the stage show would still enjoy it. Let's hope this leads to more movie musicals! (Just not Phantom!!)
I was browsing in Indigo on my lunch break today, and the muzak being played was really familiar to me, but I couldn't place it. I figured it was just some classical piece that I didn't know the name of, which often happens to me, but it didn't really sound classical. So when I left the store, I was still humming it, and then when I got back to work, it hit me - it was "Aimer" from Roméo & Juliette! Strange! Definitely not what I would expect them to be playing! And it was a really odd "elevator music" version of it. I don't know where that would have come from! If anyone does know, please enlighten me. :-)
I'm soooo glad it's the weekend - I had a bad experience at work on Thursday, so I'm looking forward to a couple of days off where I don't have to think about it. Hope yours is good too!

Yay! I am back, after breaking my mouse a few days ago. I took it apart to clean it, as I have to do from time to time, and I guess I just pulled too hard, because one of the wires disconnected. I had no idea what was wrong with it, but I took it to work, and my supervisor was able to take it home and fix it! I'm happy. :-)
The Canadian figure skating championships are this week, so that's what I've been watching (and will be again tonight). Last night was quite possibly one of the worst displays of skating EVER. The men were pretty bad, and the pairs were way worse! I am really impressed by Putnam & Wirtz though, I hope they continue to skate together, they could be really great! And I would love to see Lariviere & Faustino really nail their program, because it's a gorgeous program (and I'm not just saying that because of my little vampire fetish ;-).
Oh, and speaking of vampires, I finished reading Blood and Gold, so now I am re-reading The Vampire Armand, to refresh my memory on Armand's point of view. I think if I was going to have to deal with one of the vampires in Anne Rice's world, I would probably pick Marius. It might have been Louis, but not after what happened in Merrick.
We have had a lot more snow this week, so it's very white outside. Apparently the roads are pretty bad, but since I don't drive, I don't have to worry about it! :-)

It really seems I will do just about anything to avoid cleaning my floors. :-) Including, but not limited to, redesigning this site and working out a budget for the next 8 months.
All the Christmas decorations are down! Except for my porcelain town, which I have decided is just too pretty to spend 11 months of the year in a box. So I am going to leave it up for this month at least. It's not overly Christmasy....I mean there are some wreaths and stuff, but mostly it's just wintery. And it's certainly still wintery here - we had over 20 cm of snow on Friday, so it is a winter wonderland outside! Yay!
I am going to try to see the Chicago movie tomorrow. I was going to go on the weekend, with Laurie and a friend, but they ended up not coming down, so now I'll have to go alone. But it looks fantastic, I can't wait to see it.
Zorana is back at work, so we spent most of Thursday & Friday just talking. I always seem to get a lot less work done when she's around, can't figure out how that happens. ;-)
Alright, those floors aren't going to clean themselves, so I better just do it!
