I'm back from the weekend of watching ball...and my little brother's team won the provincial championships! How about that?! The last game was really close...they won 7-6...so it was just a little nerve-wracking! But I'm so glad they won...they worked really hard. And he's happy, so that's always a good thing. :-) And despite it being bitterly cold all weekend, it didn't rain during any of the games, so that was a blessing.
What *wasn't* a good thing is that it took my sister and I four hours to get home from Hanna, which is normally about two hours away. We were going along fine, if not paying all that much attention to road signs, until we hit a town that neither of us had ever heard of before. :-) So I got out the map and realized we'd missed a turn (my sister was driving), and were almost at Killam, where my grandfather lives...which is an hour and a half from home. Since it was already two hours since we'd left, we really didn't want to go to Killam (which is also on the main highway), so we decided to take some back roads and save some time. The first road was fine, but then we turned onto a gravel road, that was really more like a mud road after a weekend of rain. She did really well for a while, but eventually she hit a rut and we went off the road. Now this wasn't too bad yet...I had her try to back out, but the road was too muddy and the incline too steep where we were, so we thought we'd drive forward into the ditch, back up a bit to where the road was a bit better, and go off there. This *would* have worked perfectly, had she not run over a very large rock, and got the car stuck on it. :-) We were quite literally stuck on the rock...I couldn't open my door, since the rock was on that side, and we couldn't get the rock out 'cause the car was sitting on it. So we were stuck. :-) Luckily we had my brother's cell phone with us, so we called him, and he and some friends came from Provost (we were only about half an hour away by this time) and lifted the car off the rock. After that we were able to get out of the ditch easily, as I knew we would have! :-) Anyway, it was anything but an eventless ride home!
Just my two cents about the JFK Jr. thing...yes, I was very saddened to hear about it, and feel terrible for both families. But is it really necessary for the media to overload us with information after that fact? All I've seen on TV the past three days has been him. Saturday night, A&E already had an updated biography on him. Entertainment Tonight spent their whole half hour talking about it. And there's nothing new to say! I don't know...I *really* hated what they did with Diana, and it's starting to bother me almost as much now. Had it happened to anyone else, it would have been lucky to even get a mention on the news.
I got all my registration information for school yesterday...only one more year of making a schedule! Woo hoo! :-) I'm a little concerned that I won't be able to get into the courses that I went, since there are limits on the number of people that can take the classes, but hopefully everything will work out. And, I had thought that I needed 2 more Poli Sci credits, but it's actually only 1, so now I have another option! YAY!! I think I'll take another history course...maybe about the Hapsburg Monarchy, or England...unfortunately, the only other one about Russia is actually just about the Soviet Union, which really doesn't interest me all that much.
Anyway, I seem to have babbled on for quite a while here about nothing much, so I guess I'll stop. Until next time...
