Moving Too Fast
July 29, 2002
Another week back at work. *sigh*
The past week was not so much fun - that cold that I thought I was getting over is still in fact hanging around, so I've been suffering through that. I even took a sick day off work last week, which I'm sure didn't look that good, since I did just get back from vacation.
However, I did go to the World Youth Day activities on Saturday. In the morning we walked from St. Clair West subway station up to Downsview, where the stage was set up for the vigil/mass. It was about an 8 kilometre walk, which would have been fine if it hadn't been HOT and HUMID. I was pretty happy to sit down by the time we got there! :-) I spent most of that afternoon trying to stay out of the sun, and being entertained by the Italians sitting around me. The vigil service that evening was really good, I enjoyed it very much. However, the heat and everything were not so good for my already sick head, so I ended up going home that evening, rather than staying overnight for the mass the next day. It's probably a good thing that I did, because it ended up *pouring* overnight, which really would not have helped my cold. So I just watched the mass on TV the next morning, but I'm not that disappointed - I did see the Pope, and I did get to be in the middle of all those people, so I feel like I had the experience. It was a really amazing time, and I would love to go sometime with a big group - I think it would be a lot of fun.
Other than that, I spent entirely too much time watching the Trading Spaces marathon, and doing laundry and other not-so-exciting things. This week doesn't look like it will be too thrilling either, but I get to go home next weekend, so I am looking forward to that!
Have a good week everyone!

Okay, as you've probably guessed, I'm back now and have been for a while. The rest of the trip was really wonderful too! I saw 7 shows all together, and had a really great time with Jörn, his family and Sabrina. It is always so nice to find other people who love theatre just as much as I do ... even if I have to go halfway around the world to find them! :-)
We did also do some non-theatre stuff too, so I've now been to the National Gallery, Victoria & Albert Museum, London Eye, theatre museum, and London Dungeon in London. Don't worry though, I've still got a very long list of things I want to see in that city!
I ushered at Midsummer Night's Dream again on Friday, which went really well! I worked a donation box this time around, which I think was more fun than greeting. I do it again tomorrow and Thursday. And then this weekend is World Youth Days here in Toronto, so I am really looking forward to that!
Laurie came down this weekend and we went out to her favourite club. It was kind of funny - these guys were talking to us after we got there, and one of them asks me if I like the music they're playing, so I was like, no, it's not really my thing, so he asked what my thing is, and I said musical theatre, and he was just like, oh. :-) He did later tell me that I had a very refined air about me, and that I was elegant. He surely wouldn't have said so had he seen me stumble onto the subway a few hours earlier, before the alcohol had worn off. :-)
I also got my furniture delivered on Saturday! And the cable guy came! So I have cable TV to watch, and a couch on which to sit and watch it. :-) It is really starting to feel like home now, and I just *love* living on my own!! If only I had a computer, it would be perfect. :-)
I am also recovering (I hope) from a cold that started on the last day in London - it seems to actually be getting worse than better though. I came into work today, though everyone here tells me I should have stayed home.

Greetings from London!
I have been having a great trip - very sad to think that I have to go home tomorrow already! But I'll try not to think about that until it actually happens.
The shows have been really great - Twelfth Night at the Globe was *fantastic*, and Elisabeth was brilliant again as well. I got to talk to Jesper Tydén, and Ethan Freeman, and Michael Ball. Lots of excellent good things!
That's all I really wanted to say right now - I've gotta run and do more exciting things, so I have something fun to say in here when I get back. :-)

Things are looking up today!
I got the apartment, and we can move in tonight! Of course, I won't have any of my things until the weekend, but it will still just be nice to have the space. I am also going furniture shopping tonight and/or tomorrow night, which should be fun!
So my insurance exam is over - it went fine. I won't know the results for a couple of months, but I'm sure it was okay.
I also had my first volunteer night at Midsummer Night's Dream, and it was fun! Aside from being stifling hot, of course. I was a "greeter", meaning I stood along one of the main roads of the park and handed out flyers to passersby and directed people to the theatre. Next time I'll try a different job. :-)
I can't believe I am going to Europe in 6 days - with all this moving confusion, I've hardly had a second to think about it. I haven't even made a packing list, or thought of things I want to see, or got my money changed, or anything! I feel so disorganized!!
Anyone who wants to sponsor a trip for me to see the 10th anniversary concert of Elisabeth in Vienna in October, please feel free to contact me. :-)

Happy Canada Day, and all that! It is an absolutely glorious day, as the whole weekend has been. And yes, I am sitting inside, I'm aware, but I will be going out shortly. :-p
So it is officially the beginning of the month, and I officially have no place to live. However, the apartment is supposed to be ready by Friday or Saturday, so I've only got a few more days to get through! Poor Tiger is so confused. I finally got him eating this morning, after 2 days of just hiding underneath anything he could find. I think he's going to be permanently traumatized.
Last night was the dress rehearsal for Canstage's A Midsummer Night's Dream. I really enjoyed it! It is a really inventive set. Some of the costumes didn't work for me, and some of the performers were not so great (ie. Oberon), but others were wonderful (ie. Bottom), and overall I had a good time. I am volunteer ushering a few times over the summer, the first time being on Wednesday, so it should be fun!
I also saw "Minority Report" at the IMAX on Thursday. I think all Tom's movies should be released on IMAX. :-) I liked the movie a lot - I thought it was an interesting premise, and Tom was great, as usual. I could *not* watch the part with the eye surgery though. Ewwwww...
Tomorrow is my insurance exam, which has really just sort of crept up on me. I was supposed to have spent the last week preparing for it, but there were just a "couple" of other things that came up. So I've barely looked at the book. So perhaps I should be doing that rather than working on this site. Right? Right.
