This past weekend was the Tonys - hooray! Although I was very miffed with the opening number - why on earth does the Lion King get that kind of free publicity?? Why not open with one of this year's shows?? Ridiculous. However, I did enjoy the Rent tribute, and the fact that they let the non-nominated shows do a bit of a performance as well. And Whoopi Goldberg wasn't bad, if not all that great either. Bring Hugh Jackman back!
The weekend was also our trip to Ottawa, which was lots of fun! We arrived at around 11 pm on Friday, and stayed up until 2:30, chatting and catching up with Laurie and Jeremy. Saturday morning Todd and I went downtown for a look around the Supreme Court (he took a constitution course this year that dealt with the court a lot), and the requisite walk around Parliament Hill. We stopped at the Mint to visit the gift shop (Todd's a bit of a coin collector), and then for lunch at Rideau Centre before heading back to pick up Laurie. We all went to do the tour of the Diefenbunker, which is a cold-war-era bunker designed to house the Canadian government in case of a nuclear attack. Really fascinating stuff! Our guide (who was a volunteer!) was so knowledgeable, and the place is huge, so we were there for 2 hours. When we got back to the city, we picked up Jeremy and all went out for supper at The Works, a great burger and shake place. The evening was spent playing Rock Band, primarily. :-)
On Sunday, Todd and I went to mass at my old church in the Glebe, and then the four of us went out to Cumberland to visit the Cumberland Heritage Village. We timed it perfectly, as we were just walking out of the last building when the sky opened up and it stormed for the rest of the day. They made us a lovely rib dinner and we played board games while it rained and thundered. And on Monday, we had a nice breakfast, and then Todd and I had to head back to Toronto. It was a great weekend, and great to see Laurie and Jeremy again!
I don't think that I mentioned that I am going to see the New Kids on the Block reunion tour, but I am. Is anyone surprised? Todd refused to go with me, so I am going in Edmonton with my mom, sister and cousin. It should be lots of fun.
Here's a few pictures from the weekend!

Halfway through another month, and little has changed around here! I have finally decided to broaden my job search beyond the Olympic Committee, and the first job I applied for called me for a preliminary telephone interview, which is encouraging. They'll let me know in a few days if I got through to the next round.
I've been keeping busy with packing and organizing for our eventual move. We've started selling some of the bigger furniture that we're not using, and we'll have to have an open house to try to get rid of the rest of it, closer to the move date. We're hoping to only have a cargo van worth of stuff to take with us.
After a bit of pushing from my mother, I've booked a trip home for 10 days at the beginning of July, so I can see everyone and finally meet my two new nephews!! I'll fly into Calgary for Alex's first birthday party, then go to Provost for a few days to check out my mom's renovated house, then up to Edmonton to visit with my sister, and finally back to Calgary to help Mom babysit Alex for a few days.
This weekend Todd and I are going up to Ottawa to visit Laurie and Jeremy, since we haven't seen them since before their wedding. It should be lots of fun! I'll post next week with pictures from the weekend. In the meantime, here are some pictures from the Doors Open weekend here in Toronto - just random stuff that I liked. :-)
