Oops, didn't realize it had been so long since I've had a chance to make a note in here. This week was SO busy with getting ready for our Halloween festivities today - I was at work late every single day, plus working on things at home. However, it all paid off - we were generally acknowledged to have the best decorations (though were not officially recognized as such - a judging error), and I even got a prize for my costume, which was totally unexpected! Zorana took lots of pictures on her new digital camera, so I'll try to have some of those up soon.

Today I finally got to come home and relax after we finished undecorating, and watch some of the Skate Canada coverage. Yay for Jeff Buttle and Cynthia Phaneuf both being in first place, with their beautiful David Wilson choreography! And on Sunday we'll get to see the dance from Skate America, where Tanith and Ben successfully defended their title. I love a new skating season. :-)

I think I am getting sick, which sucks, especially on a weekend! It has been going around the office though, and today I've had flashes of weakness and queasiness, so I won't be too shocked if it hits me full force sooner or later.

This weekend I am probably going to be going in to work once or twice, unfortunately, but I also plan to watch more skating, clean my apartment, and maybe (finally) scan some more Scotland pictures. I want to have them done by Christmas time, for when I go home!

I'm sure there were some more interesting things that happened to me in the past week, but I can't think of them at the moment! Oh, except my birthday, I guess. :-) Thanks to everyone who sent cards and greetings (and presents - I got the new Veggie Tales Christmas ornament, as well as some lovely Christmas decorations, and some Atkins goodies :-).

Happy Halloween!

Well, that was disappointing! I just finished watching the "Bands Reunited" episode with New Kids on the Block, and they didn't even get together in the end! I thought that was the whole premise of the show. I did enjoy the interviews with Jordan and Jonathan (I probably wouldn't even have recognized Jordan if I saw him on the street), and it was news to me that Joe is doing a movie version of Tony 'n' Tina's Wedding. They mentioned Wicked, but didn't show anything from it.

I've had a really busy weekend - there was so much I wanted to get done, and hardly managed any of it. The party on Friday was pretty good. We had a crisis about clothing, but everything worked out. I borrowed a dress from Karen, which was very pretty, and made me feel elegant. :-) The dinner was very nice, and we danced a bit and overall had a good time. I actually came home fairly early, as I was able to catch a ride with someone - that, and Laurie and Jeremy were also staying at my apartment for the night, so I didn't want to be in too late. The next morning, we just visited for a while, and they left around one o'clock. After swimming and grocery shopping, it was time to get ready to go out again, over to Peggy's, and then we all went to Crocodile Rock downtown. The men were annoying (when Peggy and I danced alone for one song, we actually found ourselves completely surrounded), but they played fun music, and we stayed until they kicked us out.

Today was a little more laid-back, and I was able to get some stuff done on my computer (16% free space now, Jeremy!), make some skating tapes that I've been putting off forever, and answer a bit more email. I still haven't updated my theatre site though, or finished cutting out bats for our Halloween decorations.

Earlier this week, I got to go skating for the first time this year! Unfortunately, my blades are *so* dull - I really should have had them sharpened last year and didn't, so I can't go again until I get them done. I was trying some jumps, but my landing edge was so shaky, they weren't going so well. I'm hoping to get them sharpened next weekend, so I can go again sometime soon.

Smallville sucked last week, but Lost was excellent.

To any Americans who happen to visit this page, I am begging you, on my knees, to please, please, PLEASE vote for John Kerry in two weeks. I am feeling more optimistic about the election than I was a few weeks ago, but it is still way too close.

Alright, I guess I should go make some more bats before it gets too late. And then it's on to my last week of being 25! :-)

I have a couple of bits of news to share from my family!

The first one I have actually known about for about a month, but I had to wait to say anything until she was ready to tell everybody. And that news is . . . my sister is pregnant!! We're all very excited! It is the first baby among my siblings, so will likely be incredibly spoiled. My mom could not be more thrilled about *finally* becoming a grandmother (she's been waiting a while), and I have to admit it will be pretty cool to be an aunt. :-) She's due in April, and they don't know yet if it's a boy or girl. I was planning on going home in May anyway for Brett's graduation, so it will be good timing to see my new niece or nephew as well!

The other thing is not nearly as interesting, but still newsworthy in my books. My older brother just returned from his trip to London, and not only actually went to a West End show (his first musical ever), BUT he also chose to see Phantom! I'm so proud. :-) And apparently, he recognized pretty much every song. I should hope so!! :-) It's been far too long since I've seen the show - I might go see it next month in New York if all works out.

Okay, off to get some stuff done before Smallville!

Well, I am back from Ottawa! It was a really fun weekend, although we didn't actually do all that much. I drove up Friday after work, and got there shortly after 11, so that night we just visited a bit and went to bed. On Saturday, we did some shopping and went out for dinner at a really cool restaurant - they do stir-fry, and you just go up to this salad-bar type table, and fill up your bowl with all the things you want in your stir-fry, and the kind of sauce(s) you want, and then they cook it up for you. It was good! That night, we had planned to go to the Capital Music Hall for the '80s night, but we walked by and it looked absolutely dead, so we ended up at Zaphod's instead, which brought back many memories of the Carleton days, only with a slightly younger crowd than we remembered. :-)

On Sunday, I got up and went to Mass at my old church, which just reminded me exactly how much I miss it. I wish I could find one here in Toronto that I enjoyed half as much! In the afternoon, we went to Gatineau Park with one of Jeremy's friends, and hiked around the Champlain lookout (pictures to follow!) in the chilly October weather. We stayed in that night, playing MarioKart, Upwords (a variation of Scrabble), and two other word games, SpeakEasy and Taboo. We also had an excellent steak dinner for Thanksgiving! And then I drove back this afternoon, only getting stuck in a bit of traffic outside of the city. Overall, I had a really good and relaxing time, and really want a house of my own now. ;-)

Jenn and I had our first German class on Thursday, and it was a lot of fun! There are about 20 people in the class, all ages, and some people who are even more beginner than I am, which is a good thing! During the 2 hours, we covered almost everything that I know, so from here on in, it should all be new stuff for me! :-)

This weekend, we have a work party on Friday night, plus Laurie is coming down for a concert and spending the night at my apartment. On Saturday, Peggy is having a party for a friend of hers who is getting married, so I'm going to that as well. The rest of the week will be spent working on our Halloween decorations for work (I have some tombstones finished on my floor here, and some more that are in various stages of construction), and learning some more German. :-) I hope all you fellow Canadians out there had a nice Thanksgiving, and that everyone else had a good weekend!

October 4, 2004: 6:32 p.m.

I was looking at my calendar today, and it looks like this month is going to be pretty busy! And that's not just because of our Halloween decorating at work. :-) It all starts this Thursday, when Jenn and I begin our German classes. Then on Friday, I'm renting a car and driving up to Ottawa for the weekend to visit Laurie and Jeremy, and to finally go see the fall colours at Gatineau Park. Plus, apparently there's a new '80s club in Ottawa! Should be good times.

This past weekend was pretty busy too. On Friday night, Peggy, Michelle and I went out to a club, and then got together again on Saturday to check out the "Go Abroad Fair", which disappointed us, since it was mostly for students. We then made our return trip to H&M, where I did buy some pants, and then got home and decided I don't really want/need them, so I'm taking them back. :-) Yesterday I did a major cleaning of my apartment, which was much-needed. Now maybe I can get started on the redecorating....first, though, I will need to buy paint.

My mom's strike is over, already! They were expecting it to last quite a while longer, so that's a good thing. Plus, she is probably going to get a new car, since the current one has pretty much had it. She's thinking about getting a Ford Focus, which excites me, since I've really liked them whenever I've rented them. Not that I will be able to drive it often, but still.

I need to find a cheap flight home for Christmas! Air Canada is currently at $625! No way I'm paying that. *sigh*

Now I better return to cutting out paper bats and spiders for our Halloween project. Less than 4 weeks to go!
