Well, our first run of Little Shop is over! I can't believe how the last two weeks have flown by. Opening night was Thursday, and it all went really well. We haven't had any major problems at all yet, besides a few minor problems with sound. The guy playing Audrey II is having a few problems with his voice, but you'd never know it to listen to him, so it's all good. :-) I can't believe we're half-done our run already! It seems so strange to have gone through all these months of rehearsal just for seven shows! But I am really having a blast.
As you know, today is March 22, which is a very important day in the musical theatre world. It's the birthday of two of the greatest composers of our time, Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber and Mr. Stephen Sondheim. I admire them both so much, and their music makes up a good chunk of my collection.
Anyway, I really haven't been doing much besides the show lately...I think I only went to two classes all last week. I've got one more radio story, and I'm done with broadcast journalism for this year! Yay! :-) In fact, this is the second last week of classes for the year...I really can't wait until it's over.
And since I have *so* much spare time (major sarcasm here), I watched the Oscars last night. I'd like to know why the Oscars can run four hours, but the Tonys get cut off precisely at two. Anyway, the show was pretty good, if a little too heavy on the sexual jokes. I'm glad that Shakespeare in Love won for Best Picture, because it really is a fabulous movie. That's one I'll definitely have to get when it comes out on video.
Alison is coming up to visit me this weekend, and I'm so excited...she's only the second friend to come visit me in the three years I've been here! True, I do live 3000 km from home, but still! :-) I suppose this does mean I need to find a bit of time to fix the mess my room has become in the last month or so.
You know, you'd think after two weeks, I'd really have something more exciting to say. :-) All I can really think about is Little Shop though, and I'm sure everyone around me is sick of hearing about it, so maybe I'll just stop while I'm ahead.
A bientot!
