I was watching Saved by the Bell this morning, as I do every morning, and it was the episode where Zack buys the senior class rings from the phony ring dealer. Anyway, I've seen this episode (and all episodes, for that matter) a million times, so I wasn't paying that much attention, but I noticed that the ring dealer looked kind of familiar, and his voice was even more familiar. But I couldn't really place it. So I waited till the end and the credits came up - and it was Gary Beach! Of COURSE! Now I recognize him. :-)
I now have my new glasses. Everyone tells me they are nice, so I will have to believe them. :-) I still don't plan to wear them any more than I have to though!
My little brother was picked for the Alberta Cup in hockey! It's pretty impressive, 'cause there was 160 kids in the region who tried out, and only 20 were picked, so I guess he must be okay! :-) Only down side is that he injured himself in the last game of the tryout weekend (tore some ligaments - ouch!), so he's not sure if he'll be back up to full strength by the tournament.
Turns out the reason I didn't get as much back as I was expecting on my tax return is just because I'm an idiot and forgot to fill out part of the form. :-) So I don't actually get any more back - which is sad!
And yes, I do leave for Australia tomorrow, and yes, I am very, very excited about it. :-) I am pretty much packed - will just have to do a double check tonight and make sure I haven't forgotten anything! I also have some Australian money now, which is cool. And I ordered a guidebook that arrived yesterday so I will have some reading to do on the plane!
I'll try to do an update or two while I'm there, and then lots of trip news once I get back!
Happy Easter everyone!

This week has been kind of a blur. All I know is that I've been getting up *very* early in the morning. :-) The World Figure Skating Championships are in Japan this week, and they're showing them live on TV here - but of course, live in prime time in Japan, is like 5 a.m. here. So I have been getting up to watch the live coverage before work. And yes, it is worth it. :-p
Alexei won his fourth world title this morning!! He is just so amazing. I am really developing quite a crush. I don't know what it is with me and blondes lately - I used to never go for blondes! Guess I can't say that anymore!
Please join me in sending every possible good wish to Nagano for tomorrow's free dance to Shae-Lynn and Victor who, in any discipline other than ice dance, have a good shot at the gold medal tomorrow. And also to Tanith and Ben, who didn't have quite the original dance that they might have.
I have booked tickets for Mamma Mia! in Melbourne for the night that we were going to see Man of La Mancha but can't. I can't believe this will be my 7th time seeing this show - I mean, it's good, but is it *that* good? But at any rate, Margie hasn't seen it, and she should, so we have to go. :-)
My eye exam was postponed (stupid strike!), so I won't get my glasses until tonight. Don't worry, I'll tell you all about them! I did, however, go shopping on the weekend and bought new shoes, a suit (to wear to meet Anthony!), a sweater and skirt, and a formal dress (potentially for my sister's wedding - we'll see). I honestly don't remember the last time I bought that many pieces of clothing in one day. :-)
My flight to Sydney is a week from tonight!

I *so* do not want to be at work at this moment. Mostly because I've got this project to do that doesn't make any sense, and it's just frustrating me.
Anyway. On a happier note, I booked my ticket to see Man of La Mancha a second time in Melbourne. We were going to go three times, but there are no tickets available (or there is no show!) on the Saturday. So we can't. :-( So I guess I will have to live with only seeing Anthony twice.
I'm going to get my eyes checked next week and buy new glasses! I'm really quite excited about it. They will have to be an improvement over my current glasses.
In related news, the government only gave me half of what I was expecting for my tax return. Answer me this: if they're going to insist on seeing the documentation for your return anyway, why offer the option of filing online in the first place?
I did not end up going to London last weekend, unfortunately. And this weekend promises to be another fun-filled weekend of sitting around the house. *sigh* I'm going to try to talk my roommate into going to the Sears clearance centre so I can look for an outfit for Man of La Mancha. I fell in love with a dress at the mall yesterday, but it is a little too elaborate for the theatre.

I am such an idiot. I was so excited this morning to book the final part of my Australia trip, the flight from Sydney to Hobart, that I didn't notice the little box on the website that said there were no flights available the day I chose for the fare I chose. So I went happily along, and booked and paid for the flight for the WRONG DAY! And I didn't realize it until I received the confirmation email! Luckily, a quick call to Australia later, and they were able to cancel the transaction. I then went to a travel agency and booked the flight for the *right* day, for not very much more. So I'm happy, if ever so slightly more stressed than I needed to be.
I have filed my income tax return! I feel very organized and on top of things. :-) I actually filed it Monday, and they said it should only take about two weeks to get my refund, so I shouldn't have to wait all that much longer! Which is good, because there are many things I'd like to do with that money, namely buy some new glasses (to replace my relics from 1994) and a new suit.
I wanted to go to London to visit Alison this weekend, but I am still unsure whether I'm allowed to take my roommate's car or not. So I guess I will find out tonight if I'm going to go tomorrow.
I leave for Australia three weeks from tonight!
