What is this strange obsession
That's tearing me apart?
Some strange, deranged expression
Of what's in my heart...

Today:

Today is my day of mourning...I'm so happy it also happens to be a holiday, 'cause I know I wouldn't have been much good at work today. :-) Yesterday was the final show of the Scarlet Pimpernel at the Minskoff, Douglas Sills' final show, and the final show of the second version, not to mention the final show of a great deal of the rest of the cast as well. It was an emotional day, to say the least. I'm glad that so much of the show is funny, or I would have been even worse of a wreck than I was already. I especially enjoyed Rex's "Bring me papers, documents, Pimpys...", and Rachel's, "It's not every day I receive a note telling me I hold someone's life in my hands, you son of a bitch". :-) It was only when the show ended, and I was sitting there in that theatre, knowing it would be the last time I'd be there seeing those sets and hearing that music, and thinking about all the times in the past year when SP has been a part of my life, that I really was unable to control my emotions. Luckily I was not the only one that overwhelmed, and there were lots of shoulders there to cry on.

So I don't know what I'm going to do with myself now that I can't windtunnel every night. Luckily this next week should be very busy, so that will help keep my mind off it. Fosse is appearing on Rosie on Wednesday, and on CBS This Morning on either Thursday or Friday, so we have to film those segments, which should be very interesting! Wednesday is also Stars in the Alley, where I should be able to see plenty of Leaguers again, Wednesday night I'm going to see Fosse, and then Sunday is the Tonys, which means Livent's big Tony party, which should be très cool. After that, I'll only be working at Livent part-time, so I'll have a few weekdays every week to explore the city and do some non-theatre related stuff for a change. :-)

Also since the last time I wrote, I had very fun visits with both Melanie and Alison (we finally got to do our big New York trip!!), as well as running into a Phantom friend at the stage door of the Majestic! I saw my first Broadway play ("Ring Round the Moon"), and my first off-Broadway show ("Forbidden Broadway"). I stood onstage at two different Broadway theatres, and visited the dressing rooms of another. I met a girl who'd been touched by Anthony! I sang "Prayer" with a friend in a bus station. I ate at Sardi's. I went to a cast party. I stayed in a room at the Mariott Marquis. I baked the worse cookies I've ever baked in my life, and then gave them to two of my favourite actors anyway. I compared Phantoms with the guy who's playing Raoul. I came to an agreement with a Robert Cuccioli fan. I talked to Terrence McNally on the phone. Douglas Sills knows my name.

And that, in a nutshell, is my life. Until next time!
