November 22, 2005 - 2:47 p.m.

Just a quick update! I went to see Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire on Friday night with Michelle and Peggy, and it was sooo good. Definitely my favourite of the movies so far! I love Ralph Fiennes!

I'll also be seeing Rent this week, which I am very much looking forward to. I hope it's good!

There is no gingerbread house in the Good Housekeeping magazine this year. :-( So I'll either be finding a pattern online, or doing one from a couple of years ago that didn't work out. Still, I'm disappointed! I was hoping for a fun new design.

The rest of the weekend was fairly quiet. I helped Todd rake the leaves in his yard, that was about the highlight. :)

On Thursday, I get to have lunch with Karen and Gill, and then Brenda, Jenn, Todd and I are going for dinner and to see Movin' Out. I'm excited about that too, I haven't seen it yet.

A quick picture before I finish up - this is me on horseback at the retreat last weekend. Don't laugh at my funny helmet!

33 days until Christmas!

November 18, 2005 - 7:06 a.m.

Well, this has been a busy week and a half! Since the last time I wrote, I went to see East Village Opera Company (who were awesome!), twisted my knee and had to skip the party the next day, went on the youth retreat with Todd and his church, went to see Crowns at Canadian Stage, helped organize a work party, which was last night, AND had a physical. Whew!

On top of that, things at work are about to get very busy, since Karen and Susan both got the jobs they applied for! Which is great for them, but means that I will have to train two new people for our team. And also, Zorana got a new job at a different company, so she will be leaving in two weeks. :-( :-( She will just be working down the street, so it's not like I'll never see her again, but I will miss chatting with her at work. We have worked together for more than 4 years!

The retreat on the weekend was fun, though I felt pretty useless a great deal of the time. I guess I was just there for an extra pair of eyes on the teenagers, but they were extremely well-behaved, so I didn't have much to do. The weather was beautiful, and the place we went (Teen Ranch) was great! I did get to go horseback riding and skating, despite the twisted knee and painful feet. We also played basketball and volleyball, and had a campfire, and I learned through the Myers-Briggs personality type analysis that I am an introverted, intuitive, feeling judger.

INFJs are distinguished by both their complexity of character and the unusual range and depth of their talents. Strongly humanitarian in outlook, INFJs tend to be idealists, and because of their J preference for closure and completion, they are generally "doers" as well as dreamers. This rare combination of vision and practicality often results in INFJs taking a disproportionate amount of responsibility in the various causes to which so many of them seem to be drawn.

At my physical, the doctor diagnosed the problem with my foot as a fallen arch, and has prescribed orthopaedic shoes. This is not what I was hoping for. But I suppose it's better than gout, which was her original speculation.

And here is something so hideous it must be shared - my new driver's licence picture! It was taken the day after I dyed my hair, but before I got it cut - pretty scary!!

37 days until Christmas!

November 9, 2005 - 5:20 p.m.

Hooray for Christmas designs! :-)

I have a very little bit of time at home today, before heading to the East Village Opera Company concert tonight, which should be a blast. And tomorrow I pretty much have no time at home, and then I'm away all weekend too - so there won't be any updates for a while. And you're thinking - what else is new?

This weekend I am going with Todd to a youth retreat for the kids being confirmed in his church. He's one of the leaders, and I'm just tagging along because there's horseback riding and skating involved. :-) So that's from Saturday morning until Sunday afternoon - hopefully the weather will be good!

Peggy and I have already gone skating once, at the indoor rink. It was fun, although my skates need to be sharpened, and my injured foot *really* didn't want to be jabbed into the ice for a toe loop. Now that I know that, the next time should be better.

Work has been busy. Karen and Susan both had interviews for other jobs this week, so if they get them, my team is down two people. Which will involve some hiring and training and lots of extra work. So while I'm hopeful for them, I'm also a bit concerned for me. :-)

We had a reception last week at work for those of us who have completed a professional designation this year. The big convocation ceremony, though, is in January, and the guest speaker is Peter Mansbridge. Should be pretty cool!

Our first work Christmas party is tomorrow night! Yay!

Okay, time to finish this off and have some supper before I head out. 46 days until Christmas!

November 2, 2005 - 8:12 p.m.

Sorry, the new design is not quite ready yet! But I thought I better put at least a small entry in here for now so Zorana wouldn't yell at me again tomorrow.

Things have been busy, as you may have guessed. My birthday was very nice - the girls at work bought me breakfast, Jenn took me out for lunch (and Peggy and Michelle showed up too), and then Todd took me for supper. I got some great gifts, including Halloween decorations, Christmas decorations, a new purse (much needed), and a fantastic cookie-gram from Krista! Todd got me a figure skating calendar, with Tanith & Ben on the cover, superimposed over St. Basil's in Moscow - very cool!

And yes, the skating season has officially started! I haven't had a chance to really keep up with it, though I did watch Jeffrey's programs at Skate Canada at least. WHY did he have to be beaten by Emanuel, of all people?? Argh. But I love the short program. And the long seemed better than when I saw it in Thornhill. And I also *really* like Dubreuil/Lauzon's free dance. David Wilson is a genius.

I have mentioned that this is an Olympic season, right? I can't wait for February!!

Halloween was also celebrated earlier this week, of course. I dressed up as a flapper/Charleston dancer both for work and then to hand out candy at Todd's house. We didn't get quite as many kids as I was expecting, but it was still fun. At work, we were robbed once again in the pumpkin carving competition as our cannibal pumpkin was beaten out by an ING lion.

Hooray for Elisabeth being released on DVD!! Guess what's on my Christmas wish list now. :-) Except that Jesper's not in it. :-( So I'm a bit torn - it's great that it's being released, but I wish they would have let me pick the cast!!

Alright, just about time for Lost - only 53 days until Christmas!!
