Sydney was probably the city I was most looking forward to, as it's the one I'm most familiar with, and it was pretty much everything I expected it to be!

We flew into Sydney from Melbourne and immediately went out to the suburbs, to Margie's sister's house where we were staying. After lunch there, we all drove through downtown Sydney on our way out to Bondi Beach. It hadn't really seemed warm enough for swimming, so we didn't take bathing suits, but we couldn't resist playing in the water anyway! I was wet for the rest of the day. :-)

Margie and I got dropped off downtown on the way back, and we did more shopping, and wandered around the city. We tried to find a nice restaurant for dinner, but apparently nothing is open downtown in Sydney on a Sunday night! :-) We did, however, take the monorail around the city for fun - it's a neat way to see everything!

The next morning, we went first to the Opera House for a tour (front of house only - there were no backstage tours that day), and had lunch with a beautiful view of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. For more beautiful views, we headed back downtown to the Centrepoint Tower, which has a virtual tour of Australia (fun!), and a trip to the top of the tower.

And finally, to finish off the day, we took a cruise from Circular Quay to Darling Harbour as the sun was going down, and walked around Darling Harbour a bit before heading back out of town. The next morning I had to get up early and catch my flight - 25 hours back to Toronto! It's hard to believe I woke up on one side of the world, and went to sleep that night on the other side! :-) But it was a really great experience, and I'm sure I'll get back down under sometime in my life!!
