       January 9, 2009

So, as you might guess from the new layout, I have some news. :-) On December 14, shortly after my last entry, Todd proposed. We were at home, and he put on a song (Marc Anthony's I Need You) and asked me to dance, and when the song was over, he asked me to marry him. Of course I said yes!

We haven't set a date or anything yet, as there are several things to take into consideration, like my sister's wedding and the other four weddings taking place in my family in the next year and a half. Plus, I don't know when I can take vacation time around the Olympics. So we have to wait and figure out a few things before we make any concrete plans.

The rest of December was also lovely. We went to my work party on the 12th, which was held at the Hyatt Regency, where they also had gingerbread houses in the lobby, so that entertained me for a while. The next night we went to the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra's "Traditional Christmas" held at the United Church near us. It was great - Christmas music and readings and some lovely singers.

The following week we went to see The Polar Express at the IMAX theatre at Canada Place. I hadn't seen the movie before, and it was really good! Definitely put us both in the Christmas spirit. The weekend before Christmas, we went up Grouse Mountain in North Vancouver, and I got to skate on the same small rink as Karen Magnussen. Pretty cool! We would have done more up there, but it was COLD, so we came back down, but we did buy an annual pass, so we'll definitely be going back.

On the 23rd, we flew home to Alberta. We were delayed by about 3 hours, but at least we made it out - lots of other people weren't so lucky. I should mention that Vancouver got a TON of snow in December, which is highly unusual for this part of the country. Anyway, once we finally made it to Edmonton, Todd's parents met us at the airport and we spent the night at their place, and then the following day I went home to Provost.

The whole time home was very nice, with lots of good family time, and a lot of playing time with the little boys. On the 27th Todd came down to join us, and we did a trip to Saskatoon the next day. On the 31st it was back to Edmonton, and then back to Vancouver on the 4th.

Since we've been back, I've been very busy with work, as they've done a bit of a reorganization of my team, and I'm taking on some new responsibilities, which I'm pretty happy about. Along with the wedding plans, we are hoping to finally buy a condo this year after 13 years of renting, which will be very exciting.

I hope you all had a lovely holiday, and Happy New Year! Pictures of our Christmas can be found here: Christmas at home
